I’m raising money for a charity called Henshaws Society for Blind People. They’ve been a lifeline for my family since the day my son was born.

When I first learned my baby was blind, I was heartbroken and terrified. Most parents aren’t ready for that news, and I certainly didn’t know what to do next. Henshaws stepped in immediately. From those early parents-and-tots groups where we found community and hope, to years of practical support, advice, and encouragement, they helped us navigate every stage of our journey.

As my son grew, Henshaws opened doors that built his confidence and independence: day trips, activities, and residentials that taught real-world skills while letting him be a teenager, in a world that was not made for teens like my son.

They didn’t just support him—they supported me, too. Their guidance over the years and through many life changes, has helped me become a better, more resilient and capable single mum to a blind child, showing me how to advocate, adapt, and believe in what’s possible.

Today my son is 17 and thriving. He’s curious, capable, and excited for the future. We wouldn’t be here without Henshaws’ amazing work.

To give back, I’m doing a skydive on 18 September 2026 to raise funds for Henshaws Society for Blind People. Every donation, big or small, will help more families get the support they need—from those first frightening days to the proud milestones years later.
