Story
In October last year my mum, Sandra was diagnosed with Cancer. As you can imagine, the months that have followed have been difficult to say the least. However, what has made this time so much more manageable is the kindness and support of friends, family, NHS staff and local charities.
Based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital Friends of the Cancer Centre enhances the quality of patient care and support through life-changing and life-saving work. They do this by funding additional nurses, supporting local research and providing practical support, such as financial grants, which help families with the often hidden costs of a cancer diagnosis. Friends of the Cancer Centre relies entirely on the generosity of the local community and all money donated stays in Northern Ireland, directly benefiting patients and their families.
To help support them in continuing their amazing work I've challenged myself to run 100 miles across the month of April. I'll be running in a range of locations and hope that some of you will be able to join me for a mile or two along the way. I'm also taking on this challenge in memory of my beloved Auntie Denise, who sadly passed away from Cancer in February.
Cancer affects so many of us, but it’s not just as daunting when faced together. So If you could donate anything at all it would be greatly appreciated and if you’d like to join me on a run, let me know and we’ll make it happen. You can follow my progress throughout the month on my Instagram and Strava. Well, better get stretching!
