Ultra Season for THE SOPHIE FITZPATRICK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION FOR RARE CANCERS

Hamish Matthews is raising money for The Sophie Fitzpatrick Charitable Foundation for Rare Cancers
In memory of Sophie

Thames Path Ultra Challenge 2025 · 13 September 2025 to 14 September 2025 ·

We help people who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer. The Sophie Fitzpatrick Charitable Foundation for Rare Cancers is here to support people who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer, especially with cancer of the appendix or goblet cell carcinoma, like Sophie. This cancer is so rare that the number of cases in the UK is undocumented, and at the moment only 1,000 people in the USA are diagnosed with it out of a population of 341 million people. So there is little support and few resources to help – we aim to change this.

Story

With Marathon season well and truly out the way it means one thing. Ultra Season

I'm lacing up my running shoes once again this weekend for the Beat the Sunset 50km ultra to begin raising vital funds for the Sophie Fitzpatrick Charitable Foundation. This charity was created in memory of my mum to support research and awareness for rare cancers. My fundraising efforts will culminate in September when I tackle my nemisis the Thames Path Ultra 100km again. Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference.
