We help people who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer. The Sophie Fitzpatrick Charitable Foundation for Rare Cancers is here to support people who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer, especially with cancer of the appendix or goblet cell carcinoma, like Sophie. This cancer is so rare that the number of cases in the UK is undocumented, and at the moment only 1,000 people in the USA are diagnosed with it out of a population of 341 million people. So there is little support and few resources to help – we aim to change this.

Story

Three months after my Dad suddenly passed away in Barcelona, I’ll be returning to the city with Sahand, James and Jordan to run the Barcelona Marathon in memory of him — and of my Mum.

We’re running in support of the Sophie Fitzpatrick Foundation, which was set up in my Mum’s memory and continues the values she lived by: kindness, compassion, and helping others when they need it most.

Barcelona will always hold complicated emotions for our family. Going back so soon after losing Dad feels daunting, but doing so together — and turning that pain into something positive — feels like the right thing to do. This marathon is about remembrance, love, and honouring two parents who meant everything to me.

Any donation, no matter the size, would mean so much — not just to help the Foundation continue its incredible work, but as a way of remembering Mum and Dad and the impact they had on so many lives.

Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for helping us run for something that truly matters.
