Story
On 12th October, I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for the MS Society. Anyone who knows me will have likely heard me say how I am 'not a runner', sticking to my safety-net of yoga + ocean activities..
I am excited to be taking on a new challenge to raise funds for a cause that is close to my heart and grateful to run alongside my best pal whilst doing so!
My dad was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago - affecting one in every 400 in the UK (2.9m globally) MS is a neurological, autoimmune disease which effects the brain and spinal cord. Despite medical advances, there is sadly still no cure for MS.
MS affects everybody differently. For my Dad, he can no longer walk un-aided with loss of mobility on the right side of his body, other effects are difficulty swallowing, talking & fatigue.
Prior to MS, he was a hard-working business owner, an avid snowboarder, lover of 80s concerts & music (still is!). MS has changed his reality, however, his sense of humour remains strong (despite rarely being politically correct lol). With his courage and support system, he still enjoys new experiences.
He has always been my supportive, fun, and the most kind Dad. It's about time I get my running gear on and raise some money for the MS Society, to bring us closer to vital research and a cure.
Any donation, big or small is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)
