Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

🧠 Running to Outrun Dementia

Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK — and right now, there’s no cure.

We’re a team of scientists from Oxford and Reading Universities, working every day to change that. In our labs and clinics, we’re tackling dementia from every angle — but research needs more than science. It needs funding, awareness, and action.

That’s why we’re swapping our lab coats for running shoes and taking on the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday, October 12th — to raise money for life-changing dementia research.

My Research

I am a research assistant at the University of Oxford, currently working on a study titled "The Impact of Semaglutide in Amyloid Positivity". This trial is investigating whether a drug that is currently used to treat type 2 diabetes can prevent/delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease by preventing the build up of toxic proteins in the brain.

Every penny gets us closer to a world without dementia.

Thank you for supporting the science that gives hope.
