Story
Hello wonderful people!
This July, I’m once again taking on one of the UK’s most iconic open water swims - the 'London Marathon' of swimming, the first and finest marathon-distance swim in the river Dart in Devon, The Dart10k!
After swimming the event in 2024 with my brother, I have now set myself the challenge of raising even more money for the brilliant charity Level Water, and hopefully beating my previous time of 2hrs 24 mins.
This is going to be proper challenge - it’s a physically daunting distance, and I’ll be battling choppy open water and cold conditions.
So, why am I swimming?
Firstly, and most importantly, I’m doing it to raise money for Level Water – a brilliant charity providing 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. These lessons are joyful, empowering, and completely life-changing. Your support gives a child the chance to learn to swim, and to fall in love with the water like I have been lucky enough to.
Alongside this, I am also a passionate advocate for protecting our increasingly imperilled British waterways. With increased sewage dumps fuelled by corporate greed and an inherent disregard for these precious resources and places, I am swimming as an act of ecological resistance. An assertion that the river is as alive - and as worthy of protection - as all of us.
If you can, I would be grateful for your sponsorship, however small – it really will make a difference.
And if the river’s calling you too… you can sign up here!
