On march the 6th 2023 I was diagnosed with a grade 2 central neurocytoma, a rare type of brain tumour. I have since had surgery to remove 80% of the tumour and currently have scans every 4 months to monitor the residual tumour. The diagnosis turned my life upside down however I am so grateful for how lucky I am with my outcome. It was and continues to be the scariest time of my life. Receiving a diagnosis of Brian tumour is absolutely devastating and we are running 30 miles to help raise money for such a good cause. Currently brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40, only 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis. Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by on average 27 years – the highest of any cancer. These are scary statistics for anyone living with a brain tumour as well as family and friends around them.

My symptoms included nausea, vomiting, headaches and vision disturbance.
