Story
In 2006, the world lost a great man who was my father. After feeling unwell, tests confirmed he had Bowel cancer and passed away only 6 months after diagnosis. It broke our hearts and we never thought it would happen again in our family, but unfortunately we were very wrong.
At the end of 2021, my wonderful older sister started to have unexplained weight loss, bloating and sickness. Early January 2022 she was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer that had spread to multiple other places. As devastating as it was, she was ready to take on the fight full on, kicking cancer right where it hurts to ensure she was around for her son who was only 3 at the time.
After a complicated surgery that ended with multiple infections her weak body just couldn't fight off, Sarah left this world to see our dad again, 6 months after diagnosis.
She was 39 years old.
Since then, multiple friends and family have taken part in the London Marathon and cycling from London to Paris to raise money for BCUK, raising almost £20,000 in the process in Sarah's name!
2026 is now my year to take on the challenge and what a challenge it will be! I am going to train hard, dig deep and do it for my sister, my dad and everyone else who has had to face this horrible disease.
