Story
On Sunday 18 April, I'll (hopefully) be taking part in my first ever marathon (4th time lucky!) at the Manchester Marathon with #Team Place2Be.
Mental health, and issues surrounding mental health is an issue close to my heart. To that of my family members, close friends and something that touches our daily lives. Running is something that personally keeps me in positive mental health.
Place2Be is the UK's leading school-based mental health charity, providing support to children, families and school-based staff when they need it most.
I strongly feel mental and emotional health should be issues we're all taught to understand, and most importantly, talk about. The earlier, the better. For some of my loved ones, friends of loved ones, and too many who have simply given up living in their own head, I wish they could have done it sooner. I hope my niblings will always be able to feel they can talk openly about anything, and I want these for all children and young people too, especially in today's environment.
One in five children and young people now have a probable mental health problem, and many more struggle with challenges from bullying to bereavement. Place2Be believe every child should have easy access to mental health support. Whenever they need it.
Please help me support Place2Be’s vital work, and together we can make a real difference to children's mental health and ensure that children don’t have to face mental health problems alone.
