Story
I am an asthma doctor and researcher, investigating how to improve diagnosis and treatment for patients with asthma.
Asthma + Lung UK have supported my research programme over the last 10 years, by providing grants to fund scientists, communicating our findings to patients and policy makers and most importantly ensuring that patients are at the heart of all that we do.
I would like to show my immense gratitude for the support that I, and others in my research group, have received from Asthma + Lung UK by taking part in a cycle ride from Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, to the start of the European Respiratory Society Conference in Amsterdam.
The cycle rise is around 180 miles long with 1000s of feet in elevation. I only started road biking this year, and have not ridden more than 40 miles in one go, so this will be a challenge for me!
1 in 5 of us will develop a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute.
Asthma + Lung UK are the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
Just £24 could support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
