Why we’re supporting Farmstrong Scotland
As part of our 1,357 km run from John O’Groats to Land’s End in 27 days, we’re lucky enough to be raising money for charities that mean something to us along the way. One of those is Farmstrong Scotland.
Katie runs a livestock farm in the Scottish Borders, where farming isn’t just a job—it’s a way of life. The work is physically demanding, often unpredictable, and it’s easy for every waking hour to be taken up by the next job that needs doing. Sometimes, having hobbies or taking time away from the farm can even be seen as something of a luxury.
But Katie has always believed there’s value in making time for life beyond the farm gate. She plays various sports locally and often jokes, “While everyone else goes to get their steps in, I go to get my words in.” Farming can be surprisingly lonely. It’s entirely possible to spend long days working on your own, with very little conversation or social interaction.
Finding time to connect with other people, stay active in a different way, and enjoy something outside of work can make a real difference. It doesn’t make you any less committed to the farm—it helps you come back to it with a clearer head and renewed energy.
Farmstrong Scotland encourages exactly that: supporting the wellbeing of people in agriculture and reminding farmers that looking after themselves is just as important as looking after their livestock and land.
We’re proud to support their work, and if you’d like to donate, every contribution is hugely appreciated. Thank you for coming along with us on this adventure.
