Hannah's 40 kilometres in 40 hours

40 kilometres in 40 hours · 6 July 2024
In 2024 I turn 40, I have decided to use this year to challenge myself both mentally and physically, through pushing the limits of my anxiety and also my physical fitness.
Already this year I have got a tattoo (I’m terrified of needles) run a half marathon, competed in an Hyrox race and thrown myself off the side of a quarry on the worlds fastest zip line.
I wanted to use some of this new found drive to raise money for an amazing cause that has helped me and so many others in the past.
I will be running 40 kilometres in 40 hours over the weekend of 6th and 7th July. This will be split into 5 and 10k runs in various locations so people can join in on one or more of the runs! (Schedule to be announced)
I would love to raise as much as I can for this amazing charity
Petals is the Charity of the Year for The Barn Gym, who I am teaming up with to fundraise.
I am raising much-needed funds for Petals The Baby Loss Counselling Charity. They provide vital counselling to parents who have suffered the devastating loss of a pregnancy or death of a baby.
It is a sad reality that in the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, 1 in 200 babies will be stillborn every year, over 5000 pregnancies will be terminated for medical reasons each year and 24 babies die shortly after birth every single week.
We know that these tragic experiences not only result in grief but also in trauma. Our wonderful counsellors are there to help our clients navigate their grief and trauma and to guide them to a place of hope.
Since Petals began its incredible work ten years ago, thousands of couples have been supported by our counsellors and in the last 12 months alone we have delivered over 5,400 counselling sessions. By supporting this challenge, you will be helping us to deliver vital counselling sessions to bereaved parents when they need it most.
