Story

On Sunday 4th August Bakkavor will be hosting a Football event comprising of multiple 11 aside 30 minute games to raise money for charity. Place 2 Place Men's Mental Health Charity will also be taking part.

Each year the SEF team run a poll for employees to vote for a local charity within the Wigan community that they would like Bakkavor Wigan to support.

Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre is an is an established, successful and well-respected independent registered charity supporting unpaid carers who look after people living in Wigan borough.

In November 2020 Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre merged with Wigan and Leigh Young Carers to become a recognised centre of excellence, providing ‘one voice for carers’.

A young carer is a child or young person carrying out significant caring tasks and assuming a level of responsibility for another person which would normally be taken by an adult.

Three in five of us will be a carer at some point in our lives. There are an estimated 31,000 people in Wigan who are recognised as a carer.

Earlier last month Place2Place was awarded The King's Award for Voluntary Service.

Peter Hill founded Place2Place FC to use football as a way to help start conversations about men's mental health after his best friend took his own life. Place2Place is somewhere where men who are facing challenging circumstances can come to talk about their mental health while playing football.

Any donations will make a huge difference to enable the charities to continue their amazing work within the community.

Thank you for your support.
