🌟 My London Marathon 2026 Fundraising Story

I’ll be crossing the start line of the London Marathon 2026 as a 39‑year‑old mum of two… and crossing the finish line (hopefully!) the day before my 40th birthday. I honestly can’t think of a madder or more meaningful way to end my 30s.

This decade has been huge for me. I married my husband, welcomed my two wonderful children, and faced one of the biggest personal challenges of my life: losing 8 stone since January 2024. It’s been a journey of strength, resilience, and rediscovering what my body is capable of.

Women’s health — especially around birth — is something incredibly close to my heart. Both of my births came with complications and resulted in caesareans, and I know first‑hand how tough, frightening, and isolating those experiences can be. Too often, women are expected to “just get on with it” because birth is “natural”. But the reality is that many women face life‑changing injuries, and far too many suffer in silence.

Through my work, I discovered The MASIC Foundation, and I was blown away by what they do. MASIC is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting women who have sustained severe injuries during childbirth. They challenge stigma, push for better detection and prevention, and fight for the care and understanding women deserve.

Their work matters because birth injuries don’t just affect bodies — they affect mental health, daily life, relationships, employment, and the ability to bond with a baby. Many women experience postnatal depression, anxiety, PTSD, and fear of future pregnancies. And heartbreakingly, many don’t get the help they need because of shame, lack of awareness, or gaps in the healthcare system.

MASIC receives no statutory funding, so every donation genuinely makes a difference. Your support helps them run peer‑to‑peer support groups, campaign for better care, and be a lifeline for the hundreds of women who reach out to them each year.

So please, if you can, donate generously. Your support will carry me through the training miles, the tough moments, and especially that infamous 20‑mile point where I’ll be questioning all my life choices.

Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me.
