Story
On Thursday, 17th July 2025, I will be climbing Scafell Pyke, aiming to reach the summit in two hours, all to raise money for Anawim - Birmingham's Centre for Women. Anawim brings people together from a range of communities and backgrounds to help women understand the impact of their trauma and begin the healing process by overcoming difficulties and learning how to move forward to a brighter future for themselves and their families through casework, group work, events, counselling, and more.
As the Counselling and Volunteering Manager at Anawim, I witness the daily uphill struggles of the women we support—the obstacles they face and the incredible resilience they demonstrate. For those who know me, I'm not particularly fond of heights—Scafell Pyke is the tallest mountain in England, standing at 978 metres above sea level! Facing my fears and taking on this challenge symbolizes our women who confront challenges daily and continue moving forward despite their fears, with the support of the amazing place that is Anawim.
According to my research on the mountain so far: "This route starts as a steep hike and doesn't get any easier as you progress past the halfway point. The final push of the walk is on rough rocks and stony terrain, making it pretty challenging to reach Scafell Pike Mountain." And all whilst trying not to look down! Eeeeek!
I kindly ask you to give whatever you can to support me in raising vital funds for Anawim - Birmingham's Centre for Women. My target is £1,000. Thank you so much for reading this story and for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
