Story

On the news over the last year, the events in Ukraine have shocked the world. We've noticed that coverage in the news has recently fallen, but we recognise that the atrocities haven't disappeared, and have even worsened.

As we cycle the distance of east to west Ukraine, we hope to raise awareness of the intense difficulties the Ukrainians are being forced to live through, whilst appreciating that we shouldn't take anything we have for granted.

It is the bleakest humanitarian crisis in Europe this century, with an estimated seven million Ukrainians likely to flee the horror.

On 27th November, many of the Sixth Form at school will be cycling over a 12 hour period a distance of 1310km, in order to raise money the Royal Mail Ukraine Appeal.

We would be really grateful for any donations to this appeal - no matter how small that may be. Anything given will make a huge difference.

£5 could help provide 1,786 water purification tablets

£14 could help provide exercise books for a class of 50 children to help them continue their education in this time of crisis

£27 could provide an emergency shelter for one family, helping to protect children and keep them warm and safe

A big thank you from all of us xx

Mail Force is raising money to help provide aid, including shelter, food and medical support for desperate families who have abandoned their homes with little but what they can carry. Donations will help aid organisations that are already on the ground and providing desperately needed support.

Mail Force is a CIO registered charity (England and Wales number 1189196, Scotland number SC050218).

About the charity

Mail Force Charity CIO is a registered charity (England and Wales number 1189196, Scotland number SC050218) launched by the Daily Mail and General Trust plc during the first UK lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The charity’s first mission was to source and provide essential equipment, including masks and coveralls, required by the NHS and care workers fighting the pandemic and, with the support of the very generous British public, we helped those heroic workers in their fight to save lives. Subsequently, we responded to the crisis of online learning, helped to overcome the ‘digital divide’ and supported children and young people in education whose education was hampered by barriers to getting online and engaging in remote learning. We are now responding to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, helping refugees displaced in the war by supporting aid organisations getting help to those most in need. We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator, the independent regulator of charity fundraising. By registering, we agree that all of our fundraising will be legal, open, honest and respectful and we will comply with the fundraising promise.
