Story
Last year, my dad was diagnosed with aggressive and painful form of cancer mesothelioma. It changed everything for him and his family.
He was in awful pain due to the tumors.
The doctors and consultants tried different forms of pain meds, nothing touched the pain, so eventually Parko agreed to go to a hospice for medical care.
During this period, Wheatfields Hospice cared for him and our family in the most amazing way — with compassion, patience, and love. They cooked fresh meals, made sure his grandkids had easter eggs, food, drinks showed them the garden areas and the pond with the fish. They always took the time to talk to us all, it was home from home.
So to give a little back and honour the care they gave my dad, I’ll be climbing Snowdon in April 2026 to raise money for them. It will be tough, but worth it.
Any support would mean the world, not just to me but to the families like ours who rely on this amazing place.
He did leave there in less pain and little more like the Parko we knew, thank you to everyone at Wheatfields Hospice Headingley.
