I'm joining #TeamSHC to run the iconic Great North Run in 2026! Running to support the fantastic Jessop Wing, as we were referred for specialist care during the very early stages of twin pregnancy. We were well looked after whilst heavily monitored due to Selective Fetal Growth Restriction and severe Preeclampsia.

James and Edward, our tiny MCDA twin boys, were delivered at 32 weeks. We stayed in Sheffield's neonatal unit for just under a month whilst the boys were cared for across ITU, HDU and SCBU. We were then transferred onto Chesterfield for a further number of weeks until we were all safe to return home (fundraising for the amazing Chesterfield NICU coming soon!).

We are extremely grateful for the wonderful team that supported us through pregnancy, to birth and beyond - when they say NHS staff are angels to walk the earth, they aren't wrong! They gave incredible care to our boys, and took great care of us as parents too through a really difficult time.

The NHS provides an amazing service in Sheffield but limited resources mean there is always more that can be done. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Sheffield Hospitals Charity is able to support the outstanding work of staff across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to transform the care and treatment of all those who need it.
