Care for Uganda has a particular emphasis on working with children and young people and part of its work is an ever-growing child sponsorship programme.

Owen is one of the directors of the health wing, Friends of Lowero(FLOW). FLOW has been training village health teams(VHTs) in Lowero District. These amazing volunteers give invaluable health promotion advice to encourage attendance at health care facilities, reduce the risk of malaria, diarrhoea illnesses and to treat illness that can threaten the lives of children under the age of five

It has also supplied motorcycle ambulances which are specially adapted with a side car to transport patients on the dirt roads who would otherwise not be able to access emergency medical care . We have robust evidence that this has reduced maternal mortality.

It is committed to working in partnership with local communities and with other agencies seeking to deliver the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in that part of Sub Saharan Africa.

In the current political climate we are increasingly dependent on individual donations to keep this work going and every pound of your donation will be used in Uganda as all members of FLOW are volunteers.
