Story

Being a teacher at Porthcawl Comprehensive School has given me the privilege of knowing and teaching the wonderful, bright, young lady called Jenna. And more recently I have been very lucky to meet her lovely mum, Debra. We as a school have been involved in Jenna’s story over the past few years, but unfortunately and tragically, after a long battle with cancer, we lost Jenna in January. Jenna was just 15 years old. We as a school community, and me as a mum myself, were left devastated.

After meeting Debra and witnessing both her resilience and passion to raise awareness and funds for the charities that helped Jenna, even during this unimaginable time, I knew I wanted to help.

I therefore will be running the London Marathon 2025 in memory of Jenna and raising much needed funds for the Kids Cancer Charity. This is personally a huge challenge for me but also would be the greatest honour to not only keep the memory of Jenna alive in our community but to also inspire my little boy and give him a mummy to be proud of.

Everyday I care so much for the wellbeing, health and happiness of all the young people I teach and I would love nothing more than to make a small difference to the lives of the children most effected by childhood cancer.

Debra informs me that Jenna had a play therapist called Anne and they are currently raising funds for a new play therapy centre - I would love to be part of raising funds for projects such as this - they played an invaluable role in allowing Jenna to engage in her love for arts and crafts, to experience joy and laughter through games and provided a safe space for exploration and expression of feelings associated with her personal experience of cancer.

If you would like to help me smash my target by making just a small donation, it would be hugely appreciated ✨✨✨
