Hannah and Michael’s fundraiser for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland

AANI Europa Abseil (October 2024) · 13 October 2024 ·
Hi everyone, myself and Michael on Sunday 13th October, will be taking part in an exhilarating 120ft abseil down the iconic Europa Hotel, all the while supporting the life-saving work of Air Ambulance NI.
In January 2020 I was involved in a Road Traffic Collision with a lorry just 1 mile from my home. Such a surreal moment that you never think is going to actually happen to you until it does.
The Air Ambulance was tasked to my accident, where they were able to provide pre-medical care and assess my injuries. The team were amazing, they reassured me, they talked me through everything they were doing and kept me at ease during my quick transportation to the hospital.
I spent one week in hospital, I had a brain bleed, a fracture to the right side of my skull, I had fractured my pelvis, had glass removed from my eyes and broke my left wrist In 4 places along with nerve damage to my thumb. After 2 years of recovery, being diagnosed as a type 1 Diabetic in the middle of it all which slowed my healing process I would say I am mostly recovered and I am keeping extremely well.
The air ambulance plays a pivotal role in Northern Ireland, reaching any part of the province within a remarkable 25 minutes from its airbase in Lisburn. Tasked twice a day on average, the doctor and paramedic team respond to a variety of emergencies, from serious road traffic collisions to farm and workplace accidents, sports incidents and medical emergencies. Every minute counts, and your support can help the medical crew continue to provide life-saving interventions. The charity needs to raise £6850 in fundraising every day, and continued support is crucial.
I am forever grateful to the Air Ambulance for the service they provide to people throughout Northern Ireland. I am proud to be a volunteer for the charity, spreading awareness for them and sharing my story with others. Without the Air Ambulance many people have had a second chance at life, including myself so please help us to raise much needed funds for the service.
