Story
In February 2024, I made a really impulsive decision to get up and start the CouchTo5k programme, which for someone who the only thing I could run was a bath, wasn’t easy going…I managed to complete this within 6 weeks and weirdly enough have fallen in love with running…
I decided that I would set myself the challenge of running 50 miles (80km) in the month of May, to raise awareness for Maternal Mental Health Awareness week as well as money for @actiononpp
Sadly, my fundraising purpose has taken on an unexpected meaning, when our wonderful friends lost their gorgeous baby boy Otis last week. They are being supported through the most horrific time of their lives by a small charity local to them called @2wish.cymru who I have now added to my fundraising effort in May…
So I am writing this to ask for any donation to either of these special causes would be most warmly received…I am going to push myself harder than ever and am really hoping to get above 80km in for the month if I can.
In loving memory of Otis Scott ✨
Thank you 💚💜
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is a UK charity. They’re here to make sure mums, parents and families are supported through postpartum psychosis – a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.
APP offer information and peer support, facilitate ground breaking research, raise awareness and campaign for improved services.
Their life changing peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
As part of their Miles for Mums & Babies Challenge for Maternal Mental Health Awareness, I will be running 50miles in the month of May to raise money for APP!
