Hannah 'n' Deb's St Cuthbert's Way Challenge - 62 mile trek

Hannah Brookfield is raising money for RSPCA Manchester and Salford

Walking the St Cuthbert's Pilgrimage · 20 June 2026

We are a self funded charity giving second chances to animals rescued from abuse and neglect. Every animal who comes to us receives all the support they need, and as much love and time is given to help their recovery until they are ready to find their forever home.

Story

Welcome folks! On Saturday 20th June 2026 we will start the challenge of the St Cuthbert's Way - hiking 62 miles from Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Lindisfarne aka Holy Island on the Northumberland coast.

We are raising money for the fantastic RSPCA Manchester & Salford Branch. A charity super close to our hearts (Hannah having volunteered with them for over 15 years and Deb working and volunteering for them for many years too!). Times are tough and for the charity to survive they need our support more than ever, hence this madness....

Here's our itinerary:

Day 0: Drive to Melrose ready for an early start

Day 1: Melrose to Harestanes - 18 miles

Day 2: Harestanes to Kirk Yetholm - 18.5 miles

Day 3: Kirk Yetholm to Wooler - 12 miles

Day 4: Wooler to Lindisfarne - 17.5 miles and we must cross before the tide cuts the island off around 9.15pm!

We are staying in B&B's along the way but will be carrying our rucksacks each day and trying to survive in the countryside as vegans. That's surely worth an extra few quid?

NB: Hannah tends to have her daily walking tantrum early on in a hike whilst Deb prefers an end of the day breakdown. We aren't quite sure if that makes us a good team or not.

Thanks for reading and hopefully donating!
