Hannah's Half Marathon for The Ambulance Staff Charity

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
HERE WE GO AGAIN!
Last September I walked across England solo, in 11 days to raise money for TASC. With big fundraising boots to fill, I've decided to fundraise for TASC again, this time by running a half marathon.
"BUT HANNAH, 13 MILES IN A FEW HOURS IS NO CHALLENGE COMPARED TO WALKING ACROSS THE COUNTRY" I hear you cry!!
And at a glance, you'd probably be right. But those of you who know me will know I find walking pretty easy and super enjoyable... whereas a natural runner I am not, I haven't quite found the running buzz and I find it extraordinarily hard. In fact, as I start my 10k training plan, this is the first time I've ever got to 5k and carried on. I fully anticipate that running this half marathon could well be the most difficult thing I've ever done.
If you don't know, in September 2021 my husband and I were in a hit and run on the M5 coming back from a wedding. Long story short, it wasn't our day to die but I had to be cut out of the car by the emergency services and suffered significant damage to my arm, requiring a blue light visit to A&E, a transfer to another hospital and three rounds of reconstructive surgery. That night I sat in the ambulance for hours outside A&E waiting for bed space and it became incredibly apparent just how frustrating it must be for the wonderful paramedics to be sat in a bay waiting rather than being out helping others who also needed their help... this is why I've chosen to support TASC again, with an optimistic fundraising target.
