Story
Yes you have read it right, I am running the London Marathon in 2026!
I signed up sitting from my sofa after watching the marathon 2025 and I had been running after giving birth to Nellie to have some me time. I enjoyed it but wanted a purpose and thought, why not ... it takes years to get in.
But here we are, first year of applying and I got in!!
So yes I am running the London Marathon, and I'm doing it to raise money for Rainbows Children's Hospice in memory of my sons, Reggie and Lennie.
Why Rainbows and What they mean to us
Rainbow’s Hospice were put in touch with us during the pregnancy of the boys in 2022, when one of our twins, Lennie was diagnosed with having multiple congenital abnormalities, Rainbows continued to support us through my pregnancy and birth, as well as bereavement care when we sadly lost Lennie 46 minutes after he was born.
In 2023, we faced the unimaginable heartbreak of losing our 11-and-a-half-month-old son suddenly, Reggie, to an undiagnosed heart condition. Reggie, with his cheeky smile and wild hair, brought sunshine into all our lives every day. His laughter, joy, and incredible spirit were a beacon of hope and love, helping us navigate the profound pain of losing Lennie. The sorrow of the loss of both of our boys is indescribable, touching not only our lives but our entire family and friends.
When we lost Reggie suddenly, the loss was completely different due to it being an unexplained death. There was no support for us as a family and this is where Rainbows stepped in and supported us when it wasn’t their remit too. Less than 12 hours after we rang them, they were at our house and were there for us every time we needed them. Rainbows helped us when no one else did and for that we will forever be grateful.
We are doing this events not only in memory of our twin boys, but to raise awareness of Rainbows and the amazing work they do. Not only do they provide hospice care, but their facilities for respite are phenomenal as well as their bereavement support.
