Harley Salter will be following THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD for some thrillifying and WICKED challenges…

The possibilities are UNLIMITED! On 1st May Harley, Age 31 from Portsmouth, announced his biggest charity challenge yet, raising funds and awareness for the Huntington’s Disease Association, a charity which is close to his heart. But this year, there’s a twist! Or could it be a “TWISTER”?!?!

“HARLEY’S WICKED RAINBOW CHARITY CHALLENGE” lifted off to coincide with Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month. The HDA’s logo colours are pink and green which perfectly match the WICKED theme.

From June he is taking it SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW, as seven more charities become a part of this splendiferous challenge. Each charity is represented by a colour of the rainbow based on the colour of their logo. Harley and his Mum did their research, networked and visited some of the shortlisted charities before making the final selection. Each charity will have it’s own Just Giving page meaning people can choose the donation path they want to take on this YELLOW BRICK ROAD journey. The BLUE CHARITY is LITTLE PEOPLE UK!

This charity was chosen because Harley and his Mum know a wonderful little boy with a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. The original Wizard of Oz movie cast a number of dwarf actors in the roles of the Munchkins. This created harmful stereotypes which was seen as offensive or ableist. Things have moved on significantly in how people with dwarfism and restricted growth challenges are represented meaning the Wicked movie focussed on the geographical diversity of the Munchkins. Harley is also a bit of a fan of Warwick Davis who founded the charity with his wife Samantha in 2012. His success and that of other actors with dwarfism has helped change the narrative of outdated attitudes.

He will undertake a range of thrillfying and WICKED challenges until the end of October. He will be DEFYING GRAVITY and expectations with his braverism. Mum Vanessa will be by his side every yellow brick of the way! He has already completed daily 2K infinity walks, mountain biked, completed a high rope challenge, cleaned and measured over 150 oysters for a conservation project and participated in a colourful paint by numbers official Guinness World Record attempt.

Harley has a rainbow of superpowers beyond a heart, brain and courage…Red for bravery, orange for agility, yellow for endurance, green for joy, blue for friendship, indigo for victory and violet for valour. These will guide him along the YELLOW BRICK ROAD of his fundraising journey which will take him to the LAND OF OZ and the EMERALD CITY.
