Story
We will be erging 217 km (the distance from our university to Henley) between our relatively small rowing club in aid of this charity and in memory of Liz who was a good friend of one of our members, Tilly.
From Tilly:
Liz was a 16 year old girl, full of life, a deep love for school, photography and her friends, after experiencing mild pain in her shoulder and back, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Desmoplastic small round cell tumour. She was so loved and did nothing but care for her friends and family- due to it being so rare, her treatment was limited through the NHS and had to be out sourced from doctors in America. My favourite memory of Liz is being dragged to countless photography studios to have many a photo taken for her never ending course work- no matter how tired, or ill I looked- she always managed to put a smile on my face and take some stunning photos! Love you lots Liz x
From the Charity:
Despite the survival rates for many cancers rising significantly over the past 20 years, survival rates and treatment for DSRCT (Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour) have remained largely stagnant. Too rare to be a priority for either pharmaceutical companies or governments; previous research has been largely funded by families. As the first international charity dedicated to the support of those diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour and their families via our community support groups and events we aim to bring together both those needing support and those campaigning for change under one umbrella.
We would be extremely grateful for any support, thank you!!!
