Story

In memory of our darling daughter Harriet

We have set up this page to raise money in honour of our daughter Harriet. Here is some information about us and about our Harriet.

Me and my husband Chris have been together since 2014. We decided to start growing our family in 2020 when we got our fur baby, Rosie. And we got married in 2021, after waiting an extra year thanks to covid. After getting married we enjoyed married life and had lots of fantastic holidays. Then in 2023 we were lucky enough to fall pregnant with our first baby. After a smooth pregnancy we welcomed to the world our daughter Josephine in March 2024. It was amazing to see her grow into such a fun and loveable toddler and we decided we wanted to continue to grow our family. Summer 2025, we fell pregnant with our little Harriet. We were overjoyed when we found out we were having another little girl, a little sister for Josephine.

It was another smooth pregnancy apart from Harriet was breech towards the end but i was having all the right care from the hospital. Harriet was always such a wriggly baby and was very active. On the 20th February i went to bed as normal and had no concerns about Harriet and her movements. I woke up on the 21st and as the morning went on i noticed i wasn’t having many movements, not like Harriet. So i went with Chris to go get checked at the hospital. They tried to find a heartbeat on the monitor, but unfortunately they were struggling to find a heartbeat. The midwife said they will just scan instead. They moved us into another room and started the scan. They said straight away that baby was head down, and then after that was when they said i’m so sorry there is no heartbeat. Overnight everything had changed. I had just turned 37 weeks pregnant.

Harriet passed away on the 21st February 2026. From there we were cared for by a specific team in Arrowe park Hospital and we had the privacy of being in a special suite (the butterfly suite) to be away from the normal delivery rooms in the maternity department. Harriet was then born sleeping on the 24th February 2026. We then spent the next couple of days in the hospital with Harriet in the butterfly suite to have some time with her and to make some memories with Harriet. This was made possible because of a cold cot that was donated by a family and was made by the Charity Abigail’s footsteps. A cold cot helps to slow down the natural changes to the body when a baby has passed away, this helps to give families, like ours, time with their baby. The hospital only have 1 of these cold cots available in the whole hospital. We want to raise money to provide the hospital with a second cold cot so more families will get time with their angel babies. We also want to raise money to donate items to help families when staying in the butterfly suite at the hospital. Because of other people’s donations, we got to make memories with our darling Harriet so we would like to do the same for other families.

The cooling cot helps parents to bond with their baby and aids the grieving process. Since 2017, Abigail’s Footsteps, in partnership with The Bond Group, has delivered over 300 Abi Cooling Cots to hospitals and hospices across the UK and Ireland. In 2025, they even shipped five cots to Australia, because every family deserves this gift of time no matter where they are.

It is their mission to encourage all bereavement suites in hospitals to have at least two cooling cots.
