Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is an independent charity providing free 'home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital. Thanks to your donations, we are able to provide up to 530 families with accommodation each night so they can be together no matter what.

Story

I will be taking part in 2 large walks this year spanning 140km- the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (38.6km) on 5th July and a leg of the Camino (104km) in September, I will be completing these walks in order to raise money for Ronald McDonald House.

When our son George was born we had just moved back to West Yorkshire but we chose to have him at the hospital where we’d received all our care (St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester) as we knew that George wasn’t going to be very well when he was born. Once George was out of immediate danger but still very unwell, Tristan & I were no longer able to stay on the ward with George so the ward made a referral to Ronald McDonald House. Once we were accepted Ronald McDonald House provided us with hotel like accommodation with cooking facilities right next door to the hospital so we could be near George at all times. It meant we were able to get some much needed rest without having the added stress of paying for accommodation close by or the stress of being too far away from George. I can’t stress enough how invaluable this charity is for parents in that situation and I would love to be able to give something back.

Thank you so much if you’re able to support me with this challenge 💚

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital.

Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain.

We help over 6,000 families each year and now, more than ever, we need your support. Thank you.
