*update*
Thank you so much for getting us over our second target, it's amazing just how generous people are 💙
We've now raised it to £1000 in the hopes that we can raise an amazing amount toward finding a cure.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Those who know us know that Josh is T1D and was diagnosed at age 11 (26 years ago!) but you might not know that our son, Harry, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in July 2024, when he was just 4 years old.
Since his diagnosis, Harry's life changed completely. But he has been so brave, strong and resilient facing highs and lows every day.
Recently, we were watching The One Show and Harry saw a lady on there who had been raising lots of money for charity. He asked me to explain what she had done, and once he understood he asked if he could 'raise money for the scientists to make diabetes go away'.
I want to raise money for the scientists to make diabetes go away"
We talked about what he would like to do to raise money, and he asked if he could ride his bike to which I said yes, whilst dreading the thought of myself getting on a bike too...
He then asked if his best friends could do it with him, and they have all very kindly agreed to take part! So on 6th July, a day after Harrys 'diaversary', the four 5 year old friends (Harry, Arthur, Archie and Ralph) will set off on a bike ride that will be just under 8km, with us parents cycling, walking or running along with them.
We have chosen Breakthrough T1D as the charity to fundraise for, as they focus entirely on world-class research to treat, prevent and cure type 1 diabetes as well as ways to campaign to promote access to better treatments and technologies for everyone with type 1. It's not just Harry and Josh, there are other family and friends that we will be riding for too, in the hope that one day there will be a cure!
