Story
Hi everyone,
This year, I’ve decided to take on the Great North Run — not because I’m a natural runner (far from it!), but because I want to do something meaningful in memory of my dad, my hero and my best friend.
He was the kindest man you could ever meet. He’d do anything for anyone, never asked for anything in return, and absolutely hated a fuss being made about him. But if you know me, you’ll know I’ve never been great at listening — so I’m going to make a fuss anyway, because he deserves it.
We lost him to cancer last year, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. During that incredibly tough time, Teesside Hospice were there for him and for us. The care, compassion, and dignity they gave him in his final days is something I’ll never forget. Teeside hospice is a charity funded hospice and without donations from the community it wouldn’t be able to keep running. They supported not just him, but our whole family, with kindness I’ll always be grateful for.
Now I want to give something back.
The truth is, for those of you that know me this run won’t be easy for me. It’s way outside my comfort zone — but that’s exactly why I’m doing it. It’s my way of honouring my dad, pushing myself in his memory, and helping raise money for the amazing people who supported us when we needed it most.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, I’d be so grateful. Every penny goes directly to Teesside Hospice to help them continue providing the care that meant so much to us and the money will help other families like ours.
Thank you for reading, and for any support you can give.
Harry
