Story
The 28th of June 2025 should have been my mum’s 60th birthday.
Instead, it marks nearly three years since she was taken from us—far too soon—just four days before her 57th, after a brave but harrowing battle with cancer.
While we can’t celebrate with her in person, as a family we want to mark the occasion and raise money for the wonderful charity that is Macmillan. That’s why, throughout the month of June, a few of us are taking on a variety of challenges to honour what should have been a milestone birthday.
Here’s what we’ve got planned:
1st June – Cardiff HYROX
Alex and Abi are putting themselves through 8km of running and a series of gruelling exercises, aiming for a target time of 1hr 20mins.
28th June – Duo Étoilé
Harry and Whitty will take on a 21km mountain race with 1,450m of elevation in the French Alps—at night.
29th June – Mont-Blanc Marathon
Joe takes on 42km and 2,540m of elevation (because apparently, he just had to outdo his big brother).
Throughout June – 60km Challenge
Winnie (aged 5, soon to be 6) has set herself the target of running 60km, planning to finish the final kilometres in Chamonix with her Uncle Tom
Any support—big or small—would mean the world to us. We’ll keep you posted as the challenges unfold.
Thank you so much x
