Story
This summer, Kai and I will be taking on a huge challenge: running 192 miles over 7 days, following the iconic Wainwright Coast to Coast route, all in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. That’s 7 marathons in 7 days, with over 6,900 metres of elevation – from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, through some of the UK’s most beautiful (and brutal) landscapes.
It’s a cause that’s close to my heart. As many of you know, Grandpa’s final years were affected by Alzheimer’s, and we saw firsthand how cruel the disease can be. As a keen rugby player and someone who values brain health, I’m determined to help support research that brings us closer to a cure.
Between university and part-time work, I’ve trained hard – running 2 full marathons and 20 half marathons, and spending valuable time up north on the trails to prepare. I’ve even mostly managed to avoid the beer!
If you’re able to support me with a donation, no matter the size, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every pound will go toward vital research – and will give me an extra boost when the legs start to go on day four (or earlier…).
And if anyone feels like joining me for a stretch of the journey – to run, walk, or just enjoy the views – we’d absolutely love the company. We are finishing in Robin Hood Bay on the East Coast.Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.
We are the UK's leading dementia research charity. We exist for a cure.
Your donation helps our scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.
