In July I will be swimming the English Channel, 21 miles of cold water and changeable weather, renowned as the busiest shipping lane in the world. Swimming has been a huge part of my life, both indoors and outdoors, and a Channel crossing has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.

This is an opportunity to raise money for the wonderful Happy Baby Community, which does amazing work with women who have fled from violence or traffickers, and are seeking safety in the UK. My mum has volunteered for the charity for the last three years so I have heard first hand about the fantastic work they do.

Started by a group of women from around the world who fled to the UK as new or expectant mothers, they have built this community to support others facing similar traumas.
