Ultra X Scotland 2025 · 3 May 2025 ·

RBKares is a fully volunteer run charity that connects the kindness and generosity of the community in Kingston-Upon-Thames with vulnerable people and key-workers. Set up during the pandemic, RBKares focuses on providing local support to NHS staff, care homes and to other vulnerable groups including refugees, the elderly, people struggling with the cost of living and the homeless. Campaigns range from monthly wellbeing events for vulnerable and homeless people to 'winter warmer bags’, from care home Christmas gifts to refugee sewing groups, from projects supporting Kingston Hospital to boosting morale of young carers. We use the community's sewing and crafting skills to make items, distribute kindness kits and sort donations. Our goal is to make a difference on a personal level, by plugging support gaps or by complementing local services to support community members. We deliver projects that make a real difference. RBKares creates social change, tackles inequality and makes the community a kinder, better place to live.

Story

Hello hello!

On May 4th, I'm taking part in Ultra X Scotland - I'll be running 50km with 1,381m elevation along the beauuuutiful shores of Loch Ness.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to raise some money for RBKares, an amazing charity working across Kingston to help those facing difficult circumstances - from people experiencing homelessness and low-income families to refugees and residents in care homes. By collaborating with like-minded services, RBKares facilitates access to services that clients desperately need by providing a one-stop-shop to help with mental, physical, financial and digital health. Services attending include Kingston Council benefits team, Dentaid Dental bus, NHS Vaccination Team, Samaritans, Mind in Kingston, Kick-it, fuel vouchers, liver scans, health checks, SIMcards, Dr Bike, Full Cycle, Working Well Trust and Kingston College hairdressing students. RBKares also provides soup, fruit and cakes and gives out free toiletries, underwear, HeyGirls period products, pre-loved clothes.

Any donations would be really appreciated and be going towards a great cause.

Thanks for your support and look forward to some race-day content from me!
