In July 2026, me and three friends will be cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust – a charity that means a great deal to me personally.

In 2018 I (Harry) developed sepsis. What started as a sudden illness became a life-changing experience. I spent weeks in hospital, unable to leave my bed. At one point, doctors warned me that I might lose my leg. Recovery was long and hard. Luciky I was young at the time so my body could fight it, at that time it was not very common among young people. I went from a wheelchair to crutches, and it took over a year before I began to feel “normal” again.

Sepsis is often called the “silent killer” because it can progress so quickly and is still widely misunderstood. Sepsis is also one of the most leading causes of death worldwide. The support, information, and advocacy that the UK Sepsis Trust provides for patients and their families is invaluable. Without greater awareness, many more lives – and limbs – will continue to be lost unnecessarily.

That’s why this ride matters so much to me. It’s not just a challenge across the length of Britain; it’s a way to give back and to help others who are where I once was. Two of my friends are also joining me in cycling for the UK Sepsis Trust, and together we hope to raise vital funds to support their work.
