Story
Hello friends...
So, I've decided to run the Kew Half to give myself a health and fitness focus and raise a few quid for a fabulous local charity...
As you might know, my company sponsors AFC Wimbledon – a big part of this was the Club's work in the local community and finding a way for us to contribute and give back to the people closest to us who need it the most.
This will be a big challenge – the furthest I'd run before 2025 was 10km, and my joints are feeling the strain of the training. OK, so it's not a FULL marathon, but come on, 21km is still decent, right?
Why should you put your hand in your pocket and give a few quid to the AFC Wimbledon Foundation?
I know many of you will get on board with this one – IT IS (probably) TAX DEDUCTIBLE! You get to give to charity, enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling of giving back, and less of your hard-earned cash is going to Rachel Reeves' mad fiscal plans. 🤑
OK, serious talk – honestly, WHY the AFC Wimbledon Foundation?
- It's a small team of dedicated individuals – your money reaches those who need it, not wasted on big charity bureaucracy
- It's a local charity that supports local people – your donation stays within South West London to improve the local community
- High level of community impact – Supports programs that improve social inclusion, education, health, and sports participation.
- A focus on youth development – Provides opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and build confidence through sports and education.
- Promotes health and well-being – Promotes physical and mental health for all ages, including programs for older adults and people with learning difficulties.
A few words from the Foundation:
AFC Wimbledon Foundation helps our community pursue their dreams by improving their skills, resilience, well being & confidence.
We do this by...
- Inspiring active lifestyles in local children
- Improving the lives of older people
- Championing sustainable sports participation for women & girls
We need more funding so we can reach, engage and inspire more disadvantaged people in our community to lead an active lifestyle.
