Story
I’m running 95km for a real-life hero — and I need your support.
On Friday 29th August 2025, I’ll be taking on an 95-kilometre ultramarathon. It’s going to hurt — a lot. But every step I take is in honour of my good friend, Jason Croucher — an ex-London firefighter and one of the most inspiring people I know.
Jason lives with muscular dystrophy, a condition that causes progressive muscle weakness and pain. He was medically retired from firefighting, but that didn’t stop him. Far from it. Jason continues to push boundaries, competing at a high level in disabled golf for England and showing up every day with a level of resilience that’s nothing short of incredible.
We bonded over our shared love of sport, and he’s someone who constantly reminds me — and everyone around him — that we are more than our limitations. Jason doesn’t let muscular dystrophy define him. He defines it.
So why this ultramarathon?
Because pain is a privilege. The pain I’ll feel during this run is temporary. Jason and many others live with daily pain — and yet continue to show strength, courage, and drive. This run is for them. It’s about raising awareness, breaking down barriers, and helping more people access and engage in sport, regardless of their circumstances.
Please get behind this project. Whether it’s £5 or £50, every donation helps. Let’s support heroes like Jason — and inspire a future where disability never means disconnection from sport, community, or identity.
