Story
Hi all! Bit of a long one, but I'd be ever so grateful if you'd give it a read. On October 6th, I will be doing my first ever full IronMan and would like to use it as an opportunity to fundraise for a cause very close to my heart.
Mental health is an extremely prevalent illness that has affected many people in my life, including myself. In recent years, I have struggled with my mental health and have been unbelievably grateful for the support system I have access to, but I am very aware of the stigma and barriers people face when it comes to getting help. It took me over a month to get access to therapy after getting to the point of asking for help. A month that some people aren't able to wait.
Samaritans are a charity that I would like to donate to in order to support the fight against mental health. I want to reduce the stigma attached to asking for help, encourage more open dialogue about it, and promote education/awareness about mental health. Access to help should be a given, and should be far easier than it currently is. Please help me support this very important cause in whatever way you can. Donate, share, or just start a conversation about mental health with friends and family. Thank you!!
