Story

The scholarship has been established in honour of John Sargent, Production Accountant and founder of Sargent-Disc, who passed away in July 2019. Over the course of a career spanning over 50 years, John and his wife and co-founder, Marija, played a crucial role in transforming financial reporting and management processes for productions of all sizes in the UK. They were awarded with the prestigious Contribution to the Industry Award at the Production Guild Awards in 2018.

Laurence and Lara Sargent, directors of Sargent-Disc, a Cast & Crew Company, have set up the scholarship in perpetuity to be awarded annually to a high-calibre Production Accounting student.

John was instrumental in helping establish and sustain Production Management and Production Accounting curriculum and tuition at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). His contribution made a difference to the lives of hundreds of students who studied at the NFTS.
