BHF funds research into cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the UK. CVD is a general term for a group of disorders which affect the heart. Some of these include; coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure, heart attack, high blood pressure and more.

On a personal level, my grandad had a fatal heart attack when my mother was only a child. Although I didn’t get to meet him, I have witnessed the lifelong pain and grief from my family. This was caused by 1 heart attack, 1 case of CVD. There are over 7.6 million people living with CVD in the UK. It causes 1 in 4 deaths of those under the age of 75.
