#Willdoes is dedicated to the memory of William Paddy, a sporty, charismatic child with a cheeky smile who lived in Swanage, Dorset. His life sadly ended early at aged 14. Will's mother, Les, set up #Willdoes to help young people who may be finding life tough and struggling to cope with daily life.

Story

Hey all,

This year, for reasons I can't fully explain I decided to sign up for the Weymouth Ironman 70.3 on 20th September 2026. This consists of a 70.3 mile triathlon consisting of a 1.2 mile open water swim in the sea, 56-mile rolling bike ride through Dorset's countryside and finally, a flat 13.1-mile run along the vibrant seafront promenade before the finish line.

I have chosen to raise money for #Willdoes a charity which is close to my heart. #Willdoes was set up in memory of a good friend of mine William Paddy whose life sadly ended far too early at just 14 years old. He was a sporty, charismatic child with a cheeky smile A sporty charismatic child with a cheeky simile who always found a way to light up the room and put smiles on everyone's faces regardless of the situation.

Will's mother Les set up #Willdoes to help young people who may be finding life tough and struggling to cope with daily life. They do this by introducing young people to sports and other activities to help them connect and engage socially, rather than retreat to more insular gaming and social media pastimes and to develop coping mechanisms to help manage anxiety and emotions, increase self-awareness, and develop trust and relationships.

For me, this is about remembering Will and supporting the work that continues in his name. He brought a real sense of energy and warmth to the people around him, and that’s something I’ll always carry with me. If taking part in this event can help even one young person feel a bit more supported, connected or hopeful during a tough time, then every mile along the way will mean something far greater than the finish line. This one is for him.

Thank you so much for any support you can give, whether that’s a donation or simply sharing this page, it truly means more than you know.
