Last year we did our first half marathon, raising £760 for Movember. This time round, we're upping the anti...
52 kilometre ultramarathon, sounds delightful.
Movember is a charity that does such incredible work in the name of men's health. They tackle prostate cancer (which affects 1 in 8 men during their lives), testicular cancer (the most common cancer in the UK in young men) and men's mental health. For me personally, the work they do supporting men mentally is what really resonates with me. Encouraging men to speak out about their thoughts and feelings is something that is still so rare but so important. Talking saves lives.
I've struggled at points in my life and kept it all bottled up. I know numerous friends and family members who have done the exact same thing. I guarantee all of you reading this will have had periods of struggle or known of people struggling. Emotions are valid and important, and Movember does a brilliant job breaking down the stimga in males that they are signs of weakness.
I've had a generally good year this year (not without it's ups and downs), but a couple of people close to me have struggled. I'm not doing this challenge for me, but for them.
