Story
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Today, I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to support Diabetes UK, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. My dear friend John, who bravely battles diabetes every day, recently faced the devastating loss of his mother in December. This personal tragedy has only strengthened our resolve to fight this relentless disease.
Diabetes is a growing concern worldwide, affecting millions of lives. Did you know that approximately 4.9 million people in the UK are living with diabetes? This includes both diagnosed and undiagnosed cases. The impact of diabetes is profound, with the disease being a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke, and lower limb amputation.
Every year, around 1.2 million people are diagnosed with diabetes in the UK. This staggering number highlights the urgent need for better prevention, treatment, and ultimately, a cure. Diabetes UK is at the forefront of this battle, funding vital research, providing support to those affected, and advocating for better care and treatment options.
We need your help to continue this crucial work. Our group fundraiser aims to raise £2000 to support Diabetes UK. Your generous donations can make a significant difference. Here are a few ways your contributions can help:
£10 could help more people receive crucial information and advice on managing their diabetes.
£25 can fund life-saving research in care, treatment, and prevention, bringing us closer to a cure.
£50 can go towards training a new Helpline assistant, enabling Diabetes UK to answer every call for help.
John's story is a poignant reminder of the human cost of diabetes. By supporting Diabetes UK, we can honor his mother's memory and help countless others who are affected by this disease.
Please join us in this fight. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to a world where diabetes can do no harm.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
With heartfelt gratitude,
John, Gregor, Harvey and Fern
