'Jan Haider Memorial T20 Cricket Match'

13th September - 2026

Dad - Jahangir (Jan/Janny) Haider was a much loved, sociable gentleman (gasman!), with a huge network of friends made during his cricket career in our local area.

Known for his leadership, decisions to bat first in the rain, and his "steady" leftie opening batting approach (although later in his career we did see a few 6's!) he was a true competitor and enjoyed supporting the younger playing contingent.

I'm sure many of you have fond memories of my dad on and off the cricket field, fostering great relationships that he still(!) spoke fondly off in his later days. I cherish you all for taking great care of him as a team mate - but most importantly as his friend.

He sadly passed away, after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer, on the morning of Wednesday 8th July, 2026 at Manorlands Hospice. He was at peace, at ease and totally serene.

We will miss him dearly. Please keep him in your prayers.
