Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
For the past few months I've been volunteering at a local Memory Club. The club provides people with dementia the opportunity to participate in various activities as well as offering carers a little respite.
The participants pay a small fee to attend which covers the cost of hall used and for some administration effort. Each week hours of activity are provided, such as Music & Movement, and a variety of crafting and exercises to help the brain make connections (see the gallery of photos for some of my crafting efforts 😀). Occasionally an outing is arranged, such as a trip on the canal, or to the local steam railway. Often these activities are provided by the volunteers, through fund raising efforts or, occasionally through the National Lottery Community Fund.
Roy, Dan & Ben have pledged to run the Basingstoke Half Marathon in order to help the wonderful team continue to provide this fabulous service and perhaps even pay for a future trip, which would be of huge cognitive benefit.
Even a few pounds make a difference as they're short of basics such as pens, pencils, sellotape, glue sticks etc.
