I’ve been lucky enough to win a ballot place at this years London Marathon. It’s something that’s always been on my bucket list and I can’t wait to complete the challenge. Although I’ve paid for my place I decided I’d like to try and raise some money for a charity that’s very close to my heart and in memory of my Dad - Derek Walters.

Dad was sadly diagnosed with this awful disease in June 2017. In the following year he was operated on and had months of chemo, which gave him the all clear in 2018…

Annoyingly though in April 2019 it was back, and we were told it was terminal. He battled courageously all through lockdown with his devoted wife Chris by his side, trying all types of treatment to try and keep it at bay. All the while he remained positive and strong which was typical of the man he was.

Sadly in March 2021 he finally lost his battle and we lost him 😢 Dad was my hero, and I love and miss him so much.

He’d of thought I was mad running a marathon, but if raising some funds for this charity can help stop another family going through this, then it’ll be worth every mile.
