Story
Sadly more and more are getting more effected by cancer the numbers are Scary. They say now 1 in 2 in the UK will be diagnosed which is aboustley awful.
Last year mum got diagnosed with Duodenal cancer but then they found it had spread to lymph nodes of the oesophagus.
Which Since then mum is literally fighting every day to be here and living with cancer the best she can ,which isn't easy for her ,but it has just proved to me more and more that she is the strongest woman I know
Her primary cancer of the duodenum in the UK doesn't even have its own category it gets listed under stomach cancers .
It was a massive blow obviously for mum to find out that she has cancer, and at first was preparing for a very extreme and what can be life threatening whipple procedure (which is an extremely complex surgery )
To then find out that the cancer had already spread to lymph nodes of the oesophagus which can't be operated on and so that surgery or no other surgery can be done ,which is extremely devastating
Mum fights every day with the pains and symptoms from the cancer which cannot not be cured and I honestly don't know how she does it
So much More awareness and much more research is needed into how to cure what Drs call rare cancers
For example In the UK Oesophageal cancer has been misunderstood and underfunded for decades. In the UK,far too many like my mum are getting diagnosed at a late/advanced stage and nothing other than to try and prolong life can be done.
So This year I am hosting a fundraiser at mine on the official MacMillan day with Mum ,family and mum's friends to celebrate mum
(cause she deserves to be celebrated )to raise money for Cancer support service and I will be using my social media platforms through September to raise more awareness of the rare types of cancers .
It is estimated that almost 3.5 million people are currently living with cancer. This number includes anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer at any point in their lives. Annually, around 375,400 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. This translates to roughly 1,000 new diagnoses per day. Approximately 1 in 2 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, and every one of them needs the best support to meet their unique needs.
That's why Macmillan will do whatever it takes to help everyone living with cancer across the UK get the support they need right now and transform cancer care for everyone who will be diagnosed in the future.
