Story

I've decided to run a marathon in Seville! I've never run a marathon before and as I'll be running in Spain I'd really like to raise some money and awareness for Greyhounds in Need.

Last year, we adopted our beautiful Galgo (Spanish Greyhound), Miguel from GIN. He's originally from Madrid and was very luckily rescued and taken great care of until he came to our home. He was very skinny and skittish, and has a lot of scars all over his body. We're unsure how these happened, but we do know if he wasn't rescued he would likely have been euthanised in the perrara. Galgos are treated horrifically in Spain and we don't know much of his backstory before his rescue, though reading about how the breed can be treated gave us a bit of an idea. They are such beautiful, loving and funny creatures and if I can raise a little bit of money, and encourage a few people to read more about the plight of the galgos in Spain it'll mean a lot.

And yes, Miguel will be joining me on some of my shorter training runs (he absolutely loves running with me)!

More about Greyhounds in Need:

Greyhounds in Need CIO (GIN) is an English registered charity concerned with the plight of greyhounds, especially the Spanish-bred hunting greyhounds (galgos).

We work with many shelters in Spain who carry out the primary rescue work and the homing groups and individuals in Europe who, in sympathy with our work, promote adoption in their own countries.
